Found this creative commons listed photo on Flickr.   Roughly, in English, I’ve heard this translated as “Old Canal.”   Sure, many Dutch cities have their share of canals, but for some reason, the Oudegracht always stuck in my imagination.  Maybe it’s the brick work?  The street level versus the lower, canal-side level?  All the arches?  Who knows.  All I do know is this:  in my time in The Netherlands, for one reason or another, I visited Utrecht the most.  (It was the closest city to my home, if you don’t count large towns like Amersfoort or Zeist).  So, simply I saw the Oudegracht quite often and was afforded more opportunities to dwell on it.
